加藤綾子｜Ayako KATO
STATEMENT – Dear my body, my small violinist.
I was born as a so-called wealthy, Japanese citizen, and I started classical music and violin as a girly lesson. As a result, the attitude of being a violinist literally became a part of me.
Today, the culture of “classical music” in Japan demands elegant behavior and beautiful bodies from its musicians, creating its own traditions that are far removed from those of Western origin. Japanese “classical music” continues to influence, intersect, and twist not only within Japan, but also in neighboring Asian countries.
How does the body exist as a mediator of the art and culture of others? How does the body appear in the eyes of others, and how does it empower them? My creative theme is to explore where we are now through the “classical musical body”.
日本で「クラシック音楽」と呼ばれてきた文化は、音楽家たちに優雅な振る舞いや美しい身体を要求し、西洋由来のそれとは独立した、ある種の伝統や形式を築いています。日本の「クラシック音楽」は、国内のみならず、周辺のアジア諸国にも影響を及ぼし、交錯し、ねじれ続けています。
わたしは、いわゆる富裕層の、日本国籍を持つ人間として生まれ、クラシック音楽やヴァイオリンを、女の子らしい習い事として始めました。結果として、ヴァイオリニストという振る舞いは、文字通りわたしの身体の一部となりました。
他者の芸術文化を媒介する身体は、どのように存在しているのか。その身体は、他者の目にどのように映り、どのように接続するのか。“クラシック音楽的な”身体を通じて、わたしたちの現在地を探ることが、わたしの創作のテーマです。
Biography
Practicing the capture and reinterpretation through choreography and performance of the “classical musical body” in Japan and Asian countries. This includes recital series performing classical to contemporary music works, as well as staging improvisational and physical performances.
Graduated with top honors from the String Instrument Course at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and its graduate school. In 2019, held the debut recital “Complex.” Received positive responses, including a review published in the music web magazine “Mercure des Arts.” Subsequently traveled to Belgium to study at the Master’s program of the Conservatoire de Namur (IMEP), studying under Marc Danel. In 2021, she obtained his Master’s Diploma from IMEP. She completed her studies with the highest marks in her class for both his concerto exam, performing Dutilleux’s Violin Concerto “L’Arbres des Songes,” and his recital exam, which incorporated improvisation. She then returned to Japan permanently.
She has performed in concerts organized by the Ichikawa City Foundation for Cultural Promotion, the Odawara Cultural Foundation, the Japan Society for Contemporary Music, the Japan Composers’ Association, and the Takamatsu City Museum of Art. Major premiere works include Makoto Nomura’s “Prayer of the Voice of Omusubi Mountain (2024)”, Rei Haigai’s “Palimpsest and Coda for BWV1001 (2024, world premiere)”, and Maika Oguri’s “The Late Violin, The Recent One (2025, world premiere)”.
Major works include the recital “Breath the Form” (2024, Grant: Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture Arts Council Tokyo [Startup Grant]), “Fiction for a Violinist” (2025), and the performance piece “(Meta)Fiction by a Violinist” (2025, participating in the Toyooka Theater Festival Fringe Showcase), “I’M MEAT!” (2025, Co-hosted by 21 century art musium in Kanazawa), and the collaborative project with actor Yui Okamoto, “Sakuhin #3: Improvisation by an Actor, a Violinist, and a Hornist (Supported by: The Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, Arts Council Tokyo [Startup Grant])”.

日本やアジア諸国における「クラシック音楽的な身体」をとらえ、振付やパフォーマンスによって語り直すことを実践。クラシック〜現代音楽作品を実演するリサイタルシリーズ、即興的・身体的パフォーマンスの上演などを行っている。
洗足学園音楽大学および同大学院弦楽器コースを首席卒業（修了）。2019年、デビュー・リサイタル「コンプレクス。」を開催。音楽WEBマガジン「メルキュール・デザール」に批評が掲載されるなど、反響を得る。その後ベルギーに渡り、ナミュールの音楽院「IMEP」修士課程に留学、マーク・ダネルに師事。2021年、「IMEP」修士課程ディプロムを取得。デュティユー作曲・ヴァイオリン協奏曲「夢想の樹」を演奏したコンチェルト試験と、即興演奏を組み込んだリサイタル試験、共に学年最高点を得て修了し、日本に完全帰国。
これまでに市川市文化振興財団、小田原文化財団、日本現代音楽協会、日本作曲家協議会、高松市美術館などの主催公演に出演。おもな初演作品に、野村誠「おむすび山の聲（こえ）の祈り（2024）」、灰街令「Palimpsest and Coda for BWV1001（2024, 委嘱初演）」小栗舞花「生前のバイオリン、こないだの人（2025, 委嘱初演）」などがある。
おもな作品に、リサイタル「形式（かたち）を呼吸する」（2024, 助成:公益財団法人東京都歴史文化財団 アーツカウンシル東京[スタートアップ助成]）、「ヴァイオリニストのためのフィクション」（2025）、パフォーマンス作品に「ヴァイオリニストによる（メタ）フィクション」（2025, 豊岡演劇祭フリンジ・ショーケース参加作品）、俳優・岡本唯との協働企画「作品 #3 俳優とヴァイオリニストとホルニストによるインプロヴィゼーション（助成:公益財団法人東京都歴史文化財団 アーツカウンシル東京[スタートアップ助成]）」など。
「インプロ・りぶる」主宰。パフォーマンス・ユニット「レジャー・タイム」、信州を拠点に活動する音楽グループ「やまびこラボ」メンバー。福士恵子アンサンブルクラス演奏助手。中目黒ヴァイオリン教室運営。2025年度、KAAT「カイハツ」、金沢21世紀美術館 芸術交流共催事業「&21+」、KACパートナーシップ・プログラム採択事業者、および舞台芸術専門家派遣事業（共催：YPAM）バンコク派遣アーティスト。
