Whose body is this, really?
On April 4, 2025, I performed a solo violin recital titled Fiction for Violinist.
This (Meta)Fiction is an attempt to deconstruct and recreate that recital.
Classical music—or the contemporary music that stems from it—is often called a “reproductive art.”
Performers attempt to reproduce the intentions of composers whose scores were written in different eras and languages.
The recital, where such exchanges occur as a matter of course, is itself a traditional form—and thus also a fiction.
It reproduces music and bodies that are not of this “here and now,” but are instead layered, overlapping, and twisted.
What remains at the end of the festival may, surprisingly, be neither the composer nor the work,
but a tiny body measuring 149cm and weighing just under 50kg.
